What Form AR-11 is
Form AR-11, Alien's Change of Address Card, is the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) form noncitizens use to report a new address. The template on this page is the 2-page edition 11/02/22. As of October 3, 2026, that is the current edition on the official USCIS AR-11 page, which also says USCIS accepts the older 08/31/21 edition.
The reporting requirement comes from section 265 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, cited on page 2 of the form. The USCIS page states that noncitizens in the United States must report a change of address within 10 days of moving. A and G visa holders and visa waiver visitors are exempt.
Online filing is usually the better option
Before you use the paper form, read the USCIS How to Change Your Address page. As of October 3, 2026, USCIS says that updating your address through a USCIS online account meets the legal requirement and updates your address in its case systems almost immediately. A paper AR-11 meets the reporting requirement but, according to USCIS, does not automatically update your address on pending applications or petitions. If you have a case in progress, the online route is the one USCIS recommends.
The paper form is still useful if you prefer to report by mail or want a signed record of what you sent.
Fee
There is no fee. The USCIS Fee Schedule (edition 10/01/26, checked October 3, 2026) lists Form AR-11 at $0.
What to have ready
- Your full legal name and date of birth
- Your A-Number, if you have one
- Your new physical address (no P.O. boxes), with ZIP code
- Your previous physical address
- A separate mailing address, if you receive mail somewhere else

Information About You
Enter your family name, given name, and middle name if you have one, your Alien Registration Number (A-Number) if any, and your date of birth in mm/dd/yyyy format.
Information About Your Address
The form has three address blocks, each with street number and name, an apartment, suite, or floor box and number, city or town, state (chosen from a drop-down of two-letter codes), and ZIP code:
- Present Physical Address (required). Where you live now. P.O. boxes are not allowed here.
- Previous Physical Address. Where you lived before the move.
- Mailing Address (optional). Use it only if you get mail at a different address.
Your Signature
The form's own field notes say it cannot be signed electronically and the name cannot be typed into the signature space. Print the form and sign by hand, then enter the date. If the person moving is a minor child, the form says a parent signs the child's name. USCIS states it will reject the form without a signature.
Where to mail it
The current 11/02/22 edition gives this address on page 2:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services, Attn: Change of Address, 1344 Pleasants Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801
The USCIS AR-11 page notes not to send any other forms or fees to this address, and that special procedures apply to VAWA, T, and U cases. Check the AR-11 page for those before mailing.
Immigration court and other agencies
Page 2 of the form says that if you are in immigration proceedings, you must notify the Immigration Court separately. Filing an AR-11 with USCIS does not update your address with the court. An AR-11 also does not change your address with other agencies. For the IRS, for example, there is a separate form, IRS Form 8822.
Common mistakes
- Waiting longer than 10 days after moving
- Putting a P.O. box in the physical address block
- Typing the signature or leaving it blank
- Assuming the paper form updates pending USCIS cases or the Immigration Court
- Mailing other forms or payments to the AR-11 address
